Epiphany Leadership and Financial Solutions (“Epiphany”) is an independent insurance agency managed by Isaac Bonney. Please read these disclosures together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
1. Licensing and availability
Insurance and annuity products are offered by Isaac Bonney as a licensed insurance producer only in states where he is properly licensed. License numbers and the list of states are available on request. Products, features, riders and rates vary by state and insurance company and may not be available in all states. This Website is not an offer to sell insurance or annuities in any state where we are not licensed.
Epiphany is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Social Security Administration, Medicare or any other government agency.
2. Not tax, legal or investment advice
Information on this Website is for educational purposes only. Epiphany does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. Tax laws change and their effect depends on your situation, so statements about taxes are general and may not apply to you. Please consult a qualified tax professional or attorney before acting.
Epiphany does not offer securities or investment advisory services through this Website. Fixed annuities, fixed indexed annuities and indexed universal life insurance are insurance products, not securities, and are not direct investments in the stock market or any index.
3. Guarantees and financial strength
Any guarantees in an insurance policy or annuity contract are backed solely by the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company, not by Epiphany. Insurance and annuity products are not bank deposits, are not FDIC or NCUA insured, are not insured by any federal government agency and are not guaranteed by any bank.
When we refer to “A-rated financial companies,” we mean companies that have received an A-range financial strength rating from at least one independent rating agency, such as AM Best, at the time of writing. Ratings are opinions of financial strength, not guarantees, and can change.
4. Life insurance
Life insurance requires health and financial underwriting, and approval and premiums depend on the insurance company’s review. Permanent life insurance policies may build cash value over time. Policy loans and withdrawals reduce the cash value and death benefit, may cause the policy to lapse and may have tax consequences. If a policy lapses with a loan outstanding, you may owe taxes. Cash value growth assumptions are not guaranteed, and you may need to pay additional premiums to keep a policy in force. Before replacing an existing policy, compare it carefully, as a new policy may have new surrender charges, a new contestability period and different costs.
5. Indexed universal life and indexed annuities
Indexed products credit interest based in part on the performance of a market index, subject to caps, participation rates, spreads and other limits that the insurance company may change. You do not directly participate in any stock, bond or index, and index-linked interest does not include dividends. Past index performance does not predict future results. While these products generally protect against losses from index declines, policy charges, fees and rider costs still apply and can reduce values.
6. Living benefits and riders
Accelerated death benefit (living benefit) riders let you access part of your death benefit if you have a qualifying chronic, critical or terminal illness. Using them reduces the death benefit and cash value, and payments may be taxable or affect your eligibility for public assistance programs such as Medicaid. Riders may have additional costs and are not available on every policy or in every state. These riders are not long-term care insurance unless the policy states otherwise.
7. Annuities
Annuities are long-term contracts designed for retirement. Most have surrender charges if you withdraw more than the allowed amount during the surrender period. Withdrawals are generally taxable as ordinary income, and withdrawals taken before age 59½ may also be subject to a 10% federal tax penalty. Optional income riders typically have an annual fee. Any guaranteed income depends on the terms of your contract and the claims-paying ability of the issuing company.
8. 401(k) and IRA rollovers
You usually have several choices for a retirement plan balance: leave it in your former employer’s plan, move it to a new employer’s plan, roll it over to an IRA or annuity, or take a cash distribution. Each has different investment options, fees, services, withdrawal rules and legal protections. A cash distribution may be taxable and subject to penalties. We encourage you to compare all options, and to review any surrender charges or fees, before deciding.
9. Business protection
Key person, buy-sell and executive bonus strategies have tax, legal and accounting effects that depend on how your business is structured. Please review any business arrangement with your attorney and tax advisor before putting it in place.
10. How we are paid
Epiphany is generally paid by commissions from the insurance companies whose products we sell. Commissions are built into the product’s pricing and are not charged to you separately. Commission rates vary by product and company, and we may also receive bonuses or other incentives from insurance companies or marketing organizations. You are welcome to ask us how we are paid for any product we recommend.
11. Examples and testimonials
Examples, illustrations and stories on this Website are hypothetical and for illustration only. They do not represent any specific product or guarantee future results. Your results will depend on the product you choose, your health and age, how you fund it and other factors. A personalized illustration from the issuing insurance company is the only source for projected policy or contract values.
